Saturday brought a trip to Compton Dundon, took about 40 minutes
to drive there, which made it seem like a trip round the block
compared to the Saturday game of tour last year. They
unfortunately were short, very short. The 3 players not selected
originally for the game (Gareth, Disco and Peter) played for the
opposition and their numbers were boosted by the appearance of
Spangus. In what was a good game, Compton Dundon batted first and
made 170-odd with a young talented cack-hander making 98. We then
knocked off the runs in the last over with a couple of balls to
spare. It was an enjoyable game all round, which showcased Gareth
Hughes' all-round talents. Ok, he dropped a dolly without his
trusted mitts on, but his spin slow
bowling is still slow, and still works!
We then retired to the Castlebrook Inn and were well looked after
in terms of food and beer. An enjoyable day all round.
