Match Report

(Colin Correa)

A hugely weakened Goodwill side traveled to Ickenham under the joint leadership of Messers Smith and Hughes.  Ickenham III were to provide the opposition, but an amazing transformation saw the Goodwill facing Ickenham II with a few of Ickenham I.

Goodwill needed a bit of luck, but none seemed to be forthcoming, as Ickenham racked up 310 in their 40 overs.  One opener hit 99, another got a century.....a nice afternoon chasing leather round the park.  Despite the figures, some good bowling went laregely unrewarded.

Chasing the mammoth target, the Wanderers got off to a poor start, with opener Correa going second ball to what was described as the best ball he'd ever faced.  In other words - he missed a straight one.  A few people got starts but most were out trying to play scoring shots.  Dush Sharma with 26 and some aggressive stroke play by Mike Wallace with a career best 32 saw the Goodwill to a usually half decent total of 141.
